A Small But Sturdy Space Saver!

If you are navigating the challenges of working from home in a compact apartment or a multi-use room, finding furniture that doesn't "take over" the space is a constant battle. After putting the Bamboo Folding Desk to the test, it’s clear this piece was designed with the "small space" struggle in mind.The first thing you notice is the material. Moving away from the typical particleboard found in budget furniture, the solid bamboo makes a massive difference. The natural grain is warm and looks much more "high-end" than a plastic or laminate folding table. The lacquer finish is smooth and, more importantly, stands up well to coffee spills and laptop heat.It feels dense and intentional. Bamboo is known for its strength-to-weight ratio, and that’s evident here.With a 200 lbs weight limit, this isn't just for a tablet. I felt perfectly comfortable setting up a large external monitor alongside a laptop and a stack of heavy books. The reinforced frame and secure hinges feel tight. There’s no swaying when you’re typing vigorously or leaning on the edge to take notes.When folded, it’s only about 9 inches wide. This is thin enough to slide behind a door, under a bed, or into a narrow closet. Also, unlike many folding desks that are just a flat surface, the lower open shelves are a game changer. They provide a dedicated spot for your power strip, a printer, or notebooks, keeping the main desktop clutter-free.The Highlights:Ample Legroom. They didn't sacrifice ergonomics for the folding mechanism; you can actually sit comfortably without banging your knees.Ease of Assembly: It’s a "one-person job." The hardware kit does not include a Philips head screw driver, which you will need. The quick-release pegs were jammed, and needed to be manually lubricated to properly lock/unlock the swinging legs.The Trade-offs:Weight: Because it is solid bamboo and not hollow plastic, it has a bit of heft to it. It’s "lightweight" enough to move, but you'll definitely feel the quality when you lift it.Surface Depth: While wide enough for most tasks, always measure your monitor stand to ensure it fits the depth of a compact desk.Final Thought: If you need a "now you see it, now you don't" workspace that doesn't feel like a temporary card table, this is it. It’s a sturdy, stylish, and highly practical solution for anyone trying to maximize their square footage without sacrificing their productivity.

Perfect Desk for Small Space

Sturdiness:A couple of days in, the desk feels fairly sturdy and has a good heft to it for bamboo. Feels better than standard MDF/particle board of other inexpensive furniture.Size:Fit perfectly as planned based on measurements in very tight space.Functionality:The drop leaf design works great. Easy to put up and down while still being secure enough to not drop down on its own thanks to the locking mechanism on the front legs. Ease of assembly:Fairly easy to assemble based on the pictures. Similar to Ikea instructions in level of detail, so you do have to make sure you are matching the visuals exactly when attaching parts to make sure everything is pointing in the right direction. Also, there was an ever so slight bend to some of the pieces which straightened out as they were screwed to each other, but it did take extra care to bend a little to line up the pre-drilled holes perfectly. Some of the screws also made a squeaking sound from friction when tightening but still were able to go in all the way. Overall not too difficult and I was able to put it together on my own.Looks:Looks great. The finish on the bamboo is pretty glossy. Picture seems accurate to color for the most part. Might be slightly lighter in person, but could depend on lighting.Storage space:The under-desk shelf space is perfect for keeping my laptop while it is plugged into a monitor that is kept on top of the desk. Shelf is covered nicely when desk is closed down. When the desk is closed, there is still enough room on the table top to keep things like a monitor, laptop, lamp, etc. on the top.

Does not have the baseboard or cable notches

This desk is close to great. I'd give it 5 stars, except:* minus 1 star because it does NOT have a notch in the back for cables, and does NOT have notches for the baseboard, as shown in the product photos.* minus 1 star because it's packed in crumbly styrofoam that left tiny pieces attached to all the desk parts with static electricity. It took at least 10 minutes to wipe those off and clean them up. Use modern packaging, please!Those two problems aside, the desk was easy to assemble, well built, and looks great.
