Very useful for electric/high tables

At the lab at school, I have a similar chair which I inherited from an electronics lab. It was great to have because I’m always up and down the chair and the table/desk is set at a standing height. If you never used a lab chair with a standing table you’re missing on a great combo. You stand, or you semi-lean on the chair (they are shallow). Unfortunately, the hand me down lab chair almost can’t move. The wheels don’t rotate, and it is a heavy chair to push around.This lab/drafting stool solved the problem. It is shallow with an ergonomic back forcing one to sit correctly. It also provides a relief if you are standing all the time when working on the standing desk (or lab bench if that’s your use case).The feature which is a first for me and I wish the older chair had it, is the wheel locking mechanism. When you sit up high and your legs are on the resting circle and not on the ground, having your weight being a lock to spinning or moving is great. With the old chair, when the wheels were working properly, if I moved my body while sitting on it, and I was on smooth surface (tiles), the chair would move, and I had to get of it to brake with my feet. This design solves this issue.The assembly is less than 5 minutes, can’t be simpler, the bottom ring adjustment works well (don’t forget to release when assembling it), the cushioning of seat and back are good, the up/down works well, and wheels lock when you sit on it. I like that it is light which makes it easy to move between locations without destroying the wheels on pavement, etc.

Really solid chair, nicely made.

This is a simple but well executed chair with a few design choices that make it a little bit less flexible than other offerings. However, it is well made and designed to be simple to assemble.The hub and spokes base is made of plastic on this one, but it is high impact plastic that has been reinforced heavily with ribbing. The casters are solid and they lock in very snugly. The hydraulic is typical, and the same is true of the footrest ring. No wobble or issues detected.The chair is interesting as it has a plastic, injection molded bottom. This is atypical. The backrest slots in perfectly to this bottom. Assembly is a matter of minutes with only a few bolts required. However, the stability of the backrest is bought at the price of flexibility. You cannot adjust the backrest.. there is no 'lean back' lever and no way to adjust the height.The set is covered in a very nice, sedate gray material. It is sturdy, but I would not call it soft. This is a good option for sit and stand setups, but if you are at a desk all day you might look for something softer.All told a nice chair, but be aware of the limits and of the value proposition.
